Drumstick Mutton Gravy Recipe

Drumstick mutton is a relish gravy cooked with a combination of drumsticks. Mutton enhances the flavor. This recipe is very commonly prepared in most of the homes in Ambur. This taste is exceptional light and delicious not spicy. This recipe is best served with steam rice.

I have shared drumstick in mutton gravy in step by step method with a detailed pictures below.

In a pressure cooker heat oil add sliced onions saute till the onions changes transparent. Add ginger garlic paste saute till the raw aroma of ginger garlic goes away.

Add mutton pieces saute till the mutton changes it color to light golden brown.

Now add red chili powder, salt, turmeric powder and coriander powder stir well. Let it simmer and cook for 3-4 minutes.

In a blender add tomatoes and coconut blend to a fine puree. Add them to the mutton.

Pour 1 1/2 cup water . Pressure cook the mutton for 4-5 whistle. As pressure released open the lid. Check the mutton is soft and tender. Meanwhile wash and cut the drumsticks add them to the mutton pressure cook again for 1-2 whistle. Adjust the consistency of the gravy as per desired.

Garnish with coriander leaves. Serve hot with steam rice.

INGREDIENTS

  • 250 grams mutton pieces
  • 2 medium size onions
  • 2 medium size tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon ginger garlic paste
  • Salt as needed
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh coriander leaves
  • 2 tablespoon coconut
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon oil
  • 2 drumsticks

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Wash the mutton place them in a colander to drain excess water.
  • In a pressure cooker heat oil add onions saute till the onions changes transparent. Add ginger garlic paste saute till the raw aroma of ginger garlic paste goes away.
  • Add mutton pieces saute till the mutton changes it color to light golden brown.
  • Now add red chili powder, salt, turmeric powder and coriander powder stir well. Let it simmer and cook for 3-4 minutes.
