Lemon Rice Recipe

Lemon rice is an south Indian yellow rice can be served with papad or pickle. The citrus fruit flavor in the lemon rice recipe will add some aroma to your rice. You can also add cashews or peanuts to your lemon rice. That’s how authentic lemon rice is prepared.

I have shared lemon rice in a step by step method with detailed picture’s below.

In a kadai heat oil add mustard seeds.

Temper the mustard seeds add curry leaves, whole red chili.

Add thin sliced onions, salt, saute till the onions changes transparent. Add green chilies stir fry for a minute.

Add turmeric powder.

Add rice, lemon juice evenly over the rice and mix.

Serve lemon rice with papad or pickle.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 1/2 cups cooked rice.
  • 1 lemon juice approximate.
  • Salt as needed.
  • 1/2 tablespoon oil.
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds.
  • 1 spring curry leaves.
  • 1 large sliced onions
  • 1 dried red chilies
  • 1 green chili

INSTRUCITON:

PREPARATION OF RICE

  • Wash rice few times or until the water runs clear. Soak at least for 20 minutes.
  • Cook the rice till its fluffy done but nit mushy.
  • Strain the excess water from the rice.
  • Cover the lid let it simmer for 5 minutes then allow the rice to cool.

PREPARATION OF LEMON RICE

  • In a kadai heat oil add mustard seeds.
  • Temper the mustard seeds add curry leaves, whole red chili.
  • Add thin sliced onions, salt, saute till the onions changes transparent. Add green chilies stir fry for a minute.
  • Add turmeric powder
  • Add rice, lemon juice evenly over the rice and mix.
  • Serve lemon rice with papad or pickle.
