Lauki Kofta Gravy | Bottle gourd curry

Deep fried bottle gourd koftas made of grated bottle gourd, in a delicious gravy. The step by step method explains the entire process of how to make lauki kofta and how to make the gravy with a detailed pictures below.

Wash, Peel and grate the bottle gourd. Squeeze out the juice completely and keep the juice for later use.

In a wide pan or plate add grated lauki, gram flour, red chilli powder, cumin powder and salt.

Mix all the ingredients well. Mixture should be thick consistency to make balls. Grease your palm with oil and divide the mixture in to 8_  10 portions. Shape them like balls and deep fry the balls on a medium flame.

Place them in a plate.

In a blender add onions, cashews, garlic green chillies and chopped tomatoes make a paste. In a pan heat oil add the paste saute till the oil leaves side of the pan, add red chilli powder,turmeric powder and yougurt .

In a pan heat oil add the paste saute till the oil leaves side of the pan. Now add the lauki juice. Cook for few minutes.

Add koftas to the gravy. Let it simmer for another 5 minutes. Turn off the heat. Serve lauki koftas in a serving dish. Sprinkle with coriander leaves serve with naan or roti.

INGREDIENTS

FOR KOFTA

  • 1 1/2 cup grated lauki/ bottle gourd
  • 5 tbsp gram flour
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp Cumin powder
  • Salt as needed

FOR GRAVY

  • 2 onions
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 7_8 garlic cloves
  • 10_12 cashews
  • 1 tbsp yogurt
  • 2 green chillies
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Salt as needed
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder

  • In a sauce pan heat oil add the above paste saute until the mixture leaves side of the pan. Add salt, red chilli powder, yogurt, turmeric powder and lauki juice. Let it simmer add koftas cook for another 5 minutes.
  • Serve lauki kofta Gravy with naan or roti.
