Lacha Paratha is a multi layered Indian fried bread prepared with wheat flour and all purpose flour.

I have shared a step by step method to prepared a layered paratha with a detailed pictures below.

In a mixing bowl add wheat flour and all purpose flour.

Now add semolina/ rava to it.

Add milk and start to knead.

Add required water to knead the firm dough. Let it rest for 15_20 minutes.

Divide the dough into small portions. Roll the dough till it flatten from all sides.

Grease the chapathi with oil and sprinkle wheat flour over it. this helps to get flaky layers.

Start pleating the dough with the help of fingers .Stretch the pleats as much as possible. Begin to roll the dough as a swiss roll.

Start rolling the dough again. Do not press the rolling pin. Gently roll the dough in the form of circle. Place it in the hot tawa grease with oil flip them in between cook them on both the sides until the paratha are golden brown.

Lacha Paratha goes well with any mutton gravy.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup wheat flour
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup semolina/ bombay rava
  • 1/2 cup lukewarm milk
  • Salt as needed
  • Oil

INSTRUCTIONS

  • In a mixing bowl add all purpose flour, wheat flour, semolina,salt and warm milk.
  • Add required water to knead the firm dough.
  • Let the dough rest for 15_20 minutes.
  • Divide the dough into small portions. Roll the dough in to thin circle.
  • grease the chapathi with oil and sprinkle wheat flour over it. this helps to get flaky layers.Start pleating the dough with the help of fingers .Stretch the pleats as much as possible. Begin to roll the dough as a swiss roll.
