Shortbread Cookies Recipe

Shortbread cookies are buttery melt in a mouth. These cookies are spectacular! They are so easy to make with butter, milk, milk powder and sugar. Homemade shortbread cookies are more tender. The crumble is softer when you bite into it, they are more buttery.

Before we start lets measure the ingredients

In a mixing bowl add butter at room temperature , add icing sugar whisk in a wire rack or stand mixer until its creamy and fluffy.

Add all purpose flour , milk powder baking powder and vanilla essence mix the dough .

Knead the firm dough.

Roll the dough with the help of rolling pin.

Cut into bars or any desired shape.

Bake for 15 minutes or until just done ( slightly golden in color ) . Do not let them get brown.

Remove from the oven , left out the cookies from using the parchment paper. Set aside to cool on a wire rack.

Serve as tea time snacks. You can store in an airtight container for up to 3 days or in the freezer for 1 month.

  • 1 cup/ 240 gram all purpose flour
  • 20 grams milk powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  •  120 gram salted butter
  • 80 gram icing sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
